I cannot envision life without art. My love affair with art started at an early age. I was greatly inspired by my grandmother who was herself a painter and an artist. She passed away on February 14, 2003. I also credit my parents for contributing to my early artistic development by allowing me to express myself in whatever manner I chose. My father always told me to “do what you enjoy doing.” The best advice a child can get from his parents. With their support, I chose the path of being an artist.

During high school, I attended a magnet arts program in Montgomery County, Maryland. There, I studied art under the guidance of a great teacher Oroon Barnes. He helped me refine my young artistic mind and from there on, I have been passionate about painting. After graduation, I attended the Maryland Institute, College of Art in Baltimore. This four year private art school was amazing for allowing me to be whomever I wanted to be. Under the guidance of skilled teachers/artists, I was able to refine my skills as a painter, sculptor, printmaker, illustrator and graphic designer.

When I begin a new painting, I always find that I truly enjoy working with color. I loose myself in the painting. Lately, I have been inspired by the simplicity of the cow and other animals. Their bold and recognizable body shapes have allowed me to create wonderful compositions. Another subject matter that has caught my fancy are orchids and other flowers

Thanks, Dimitry
